Is failure the only way to learn?

Consider the billion-dollar debacle in the Nevada thermal solar power experiment. Now I say experiment because it did fail. Could it have been foreseen that complexity in so many areas foretold failure? So many of the technologies incorporated were unproven and pure experimentation with such a colossal investment that even the financing was experimental.

This is what humans do. They run headlong into catastrophe with little forethought and after-the-fact just say oops, it probably was a bad idea.

Artificial intelligence is going to be as dumb as its creators. Perihelion Engineering is that with each pass through the perihelion you have a new day and new vision having learned from your mistakes.

Stupid is defined as could learn but refuses. To foresee is virtuous. Solar power will show that maintenance costs will trump any short-term energy gains and will fail in the long term.

Prophecy, perhaps. I hope I live long enough to see the result.

The Big Bang is Bad Science

I would like to talk to you after you realize that the universe is infinite and did not have a beginning. That the multiverse is what you are looking at, from the infinitely small to the infinitely large and that anywhere the observer is, is the center. That the black hole in the center of the galaxy is the infinite future as we undergo compression from dark matter. Regardless of how fast you travel toward the center of the galaxy you can never get there.

When you begin to think in infinite terms, a panacea of possibilities emerges. Infinite intelligence is aware of you and since autonomy is paramount they can only watch. Parents must allow the child to ultimately stand on its own lest it never know true freedom and you only pray the child does well.

AI - ignorance on overdrive

You have artificial intelligence all around you that is benign. Your car runs on AI and does what you tell it to do. Now consider automatic braking for crash protection. I may decide that to accelerate will best save you to get out of the way but the automatic brake decides no for me and I am dead.

To put AI as the final decision outside of human control is a stupid conscious decision by fools.

Never let it rule or make the final decision.

In the case of a rocket ship a human cannot do it as well as AI. But if the astronaut decides otherwise by use of the sixth sense like perhaps he felt a shimmer that perhaps today is a bad day to fly and to abort meant to live another day and try again, allow for a kill switch and abort.

Humans extend into the supernatural as cognizant beings with feelings and emotions. AI does not.

Use it as the dumb machine that it is.

Watt Density

Has anyone done the watt density calculation for say New York City. In the coming days I will. Also the energy in joules and watts of a typical day of all the vehicles the travel in and out of the city.

I think the result is going to show that solar and wind can't even come close the the needs.
